Troubleshooting: Ethernet Problems - DHCP Failure & Static IP’s Don’t Work

Ok, so the title is massive but still it’s about the best description I can give for this very strange problem. I was playing GT5: Prologue & had this computer on but it was in low power mode, you know, Monitor off, hard drives not spinning. When I went to use the computer again I noticed my internet wasn’t connected anymore. I use a ethernet adapter that is built into my motherboard and it has always served me well until now.
